The Ultimate Family-Friendly Fall Activity: Shelburne Orchards
If you’re looking for the ultimate fall activity for your family, Shelburne Orchards is the place to be! Nestled just outside Burlington, this orchard offers everything you need for a picture-perfect day with your little ones. Here's how to plan your visit like a pro:
1. Get There Early
Beat the heat (and the crowds) by arriving when the orchard opens. Mornings at Shelburne Orchards are peaceful, and it’s the perfect time for toddlers to roam freely without getting overwhelmed. Plus, the cooler morning air keeps everyone happy and energized while you pick apples! (Just be sure to wear your boots…the dew on the grass was heavy!)
2. Enjoy the Entertainment
The orchard offers events every weekend. We have enjoyed story time under the shade with loads of other families (they seemed to have moved the story time out of the orchard this year, which was great). They also have live music, so check out the schedule!
3. Tractor Rides are a Must
They offer tractor rides from the parking lot to the orchard, and back to the farm store. Jump on for a fun little jaunt! There are people in the orchard to provide bags and point you in the right direction. We ended up picking our way in the orchard back to the farm store and didn’t take the tractor back, which worked out great to get some extra toddler energy out!
4. Enjoy the play area
Take a break under the trees or let the kids explore the little play area while you soak in those gorgeous Vermont views. Shelburne Orchards is full of charming spots to sit back and enjoy the day.
5. Don’t Forget the Cider Donuts
No trip to Shelburne Orchards is complete without indulging in their famous cider donuts. Make this your last stop before heading home—you’ll thank me later. 🍩
Whether you're a local or visiting the Burlington area, Shelburne Orchards is the perfect destination for a family-friendly weekend. Want more tips on toddler-approved activities around Burlington? Stay tuned, or drop me a message for more ideas!
